This Friday and Saturday saw the 2nd leg of the World Cup take place in Marecottes, Switzerland. I took Friday’s sprint easy to concentrate on the individual race on Saturday.
So today it was the turn of the individual race, quite a long race with 2000m+ altitude difference, with 2 big ascents and some parts on foot to add a bit of spice. In the second of the 2 climbs of 770m Kilian accelerated, but I didn’t panic and rested just behind him with Matteo EYDALLIN, Manfred REICHEGGER et Martin ANTHAMATTEN. We skied well in the descents that followed, and I decided to go it alone to try and catch Kilan in the 3rd climb of 660m. But having got away from Matteo, I found it hard to get to Kilan, who up kept a strong pace at the front. I finished 2nd behind Kilian and in front of Matteo EYDALLIN et Alexis SEVENNEC.
I don’t have any regrets about my race, Kilian was stronger on the day!
With a strong start to the season the next meeting is at les Championnats du monde à Pelvoux-Vallouise on the 9 to the 15 February. For more info – http://www.ski-ecrins.com/
